Step-by-step method

  1. Convert board width plus gap to metres to obtain course pitch.
  2. Round the deck-width course count up to a whole number and multiply by deck length.
  3. Apply waste, divide by stock-board length and round up to whole pieces.

Common questions

Why does ToolLott round some quantities up?

Items sold as whole boards, sheets, packs, boxes or panels cannot normally be ordered as fractions, so the tool rounds those purchase quantities upward.

Should I always use the default waste allowance?

No. Use an allowance appropriate to the material, layout, cutting pattern, site conditions and supplier guidance.
