Convert common electrical conductivity units.
Calculations happen locally in your browser. ToolLott does not send these inputs to a server for this tool.
How to use it
Enter a value, choose the source and target units, then calculate. Results are rounded for display while calculations use full browser numeric precision.
How the Conductivity Converter works
The Conductivity Converter expresses the same electrical conductivity in another supported unit using the exact conversion relationships implemented by ToolLott.
Calculation breakdown
ToolLott will explain the current inputs and displayed result here.
Electrical conductivity conversion method
Conductivity values are converted through siemens per metre. Prefixes and centimetre-versus-metre denominators are both accounted for, so values such as µS/cm require more than a simple SI prefix change.
S/m = input x source factorToolLott uses siemens per metre as the reference path for this conversion family.
result = (S/m) / target factorThe target-unit factor converts the normalised quantity into the requested display unit.
| Symbol / input | Meaning | Unit |
|---|---|---|
input | Entered electrical conductivity value | selected source unit |
source factor | Relationship from source unit to siemens per metre | conversion factor |
target factor | Relationship from target unit to siemens per metre | conversion factor |
Step-by-step method
- Read the entered electrical conductivity and selected source/target units.
- Convert the source value to the reference siemens per metre using the stored factor or formula.
- Convert the normalised value into the requested target unit.
- Format the result for display while keeping the calculation path reproducible.
Worked example
Priya, a operations coordinator, has a conductivity reading of 1 S/m from an instrument and needs to compare it with a datasheet in µS/cm.
Example inputs
- value = 1
- from = sm
- to = uscm
Calculation / processing
1 S/m divided by 0.0001 S/m per µS/cm = 10,000 µS/cm.The verified output is 10,000 µS/cm.
The numeric value becomes much larger because µS/cm is a much smaller conductivity unit than S/m.
Assumptions
- The page converts conductivity units only and treats S/m as the base.
- Metric prefixes follow SI powers of ten.
Limitations
- Temperature compensation and solution-specific conductivity behaviour are not part of the unit conversion.
- Instrument calibration and measurement uncertainty are outside this tool.
Common questions
Why does the Conductivity Converter use a base unit internally?
Normalising the source value to one reference unit makes every supported source-to-target combination use one consistent calculation path.
Does conversion change the physical quantity?
No. It expresses the same quantity in a different unit.
Why can the displayed value contain many decimals?
Some unit ratios are not terminating decimals. ToolLott calculates with browser numeric precision and rounds only for display.

A realistic way Priya could use this tool
Priya is a operations coordinator.
Priya has a conductivity reading of 1 S/m from an instrument and needs to compare it with a datasheet in µS/cm.
They use the worked values shown in the tool: Value: 1; From: S/m; To: µS/cm.
ToolLott returns “1 S/m = 10,000 µS/cm”. That gives Priya a concrete figure to check against the real task before they copy it into the next document or decision.
Fictional scenario using realistic example data. For Ready tools, the worked result is tied to the tested example shown in the tool. Replace the figures with your own inputs and independently verify important professional, financial, legal, health or safety decisions.
