How HEIC is decoded and re-encoded as JPEG

ToolLott sends the selected file to its own self-hosted processing runtime, where libheif/libde265 decodes the HEIC image. The decoded pixels are then encoded as JPEG using the requested quality setting and returned as a downloadable file.

JPEG is a different lossy image representation, so file size and pixel-level data can change. The quality setting controls JPEG encoding quality; it does not restore information already lost in the source.

Will HEIC metadata always be preserved?

No. The conversion focuses on the rendered image and does not promise preservation of every HEIF metadata or auxiliary-image feature.
